Do you want to become an influencer? 3 simple steps that I use

In the beginning

Social media marketing has become an essential part of digital marketing. It is a powerful tool that businesses and individuals can use to connect with their target audience and build their brand. However, getting started in social media marketing can be overwhelming, especially for beginners.

"I was doing research and understanding this social media marketing about 6 years ago. I made many mistakes and learn some lessons. I am going to share with you how I started and where am I today. But first, let me address the elephant in the room. Over the years, I was asked multiple times, do I want to become an influencer? And my answer is always a resounding......I don't know. Okay, that was a lie, it's actually a straightforward 'maybe'. But if the answer is a simple 'yes' or 'no', then there will be no more writing and sharing of ideas. So let's get on with it, shall we?"

To be honest, I never gave much thought to this topic until I stumbled upon a new trend a few years back. Since then, I've been having a blast researching and experimenting on different platforms. I'll admit, I'm a bit greedy when it comes to exploring new avenues with my limited resources. But hey, if I can have fun while learning and trying new things without the pressure of generating income, why not make it a hobby? That's exactly what it's been for me over the past few years.

I will share some tips to help you get started on your social media marketing journey in a more systematic way.

Find Your Passion and Topics

The first step in social media marketing is to find your passion and topics that you're interested in. And if you're not sure what you're passionate about, don't worry, just think about what you spend most of your time doing. Is it eating? Sleeping? Watching cat videos on YouTube? Congratulations, you've found your passion!

Find Your Influencer and Observe Their Content

The next step is to find an influencer in your niche and observe their content. But be careful not to become too obsessed with them. You don't want to end up like that one person who got a tattoo of their favorite influencer's face on their arm. That's just...awkward.

Improve Your Content Creation Skills

Creating content for social media requires some basic skills in photography, videography, and editing. But don't worry if you don't have any of these skills. You can always use the "beauty mode" on your phone camera and call it a day. And if all else fails, just add some emojis to your post. Emojis make everything better.

Revisit Step 1 and 2, and Start Creating and Posting

Once you have found your passion, topics, and influencers, and have improved your content creation skills, it's time to start creating and posting content. And don't be afraid to show your personality in your posts. If you're funny, be funny. If you're not funny, just be yourself.

Challenges

As you continue to create and post content, you will face some obstacles. One common obstacle is not having enough content to post. But don't worry, just take a picture of your lunch, shot some videos and keep it for future use. You will be fine if you enjoy the process.

At the moment, the world is abuzz with excitement over AI-assisted content creation tools such as Chat GPT, Articoolo, and Copy.ai. While many of these tools require paid subscriptions, the productivity and efficiency benefits they offer are hard to ignore. With the help of AI, it's now possible to generate high-quality content in a fraction of the time it used to take. For example, Articoolo uses machine learning algorithms to automatically generate unique and SEO-friendly articles, while Copy.ai uses natural language processing to generate high-quality copy for websites, social media, and more. And of course, Chat GPT is renowned for its ability to generate human-like responses to text prompts. It's truly amazing how much time and effort these AI-powered tools can save!

Another obstacle you may face is feeling that your content is not attractive compared to your favorite influencers. Maybe they have a team of people assisting them in mange the whole process. So just be yourself and embrace your imperfections. After all, they're what make you unique.
So, do I really want to become an influencer, blogger, YouTuber, TikToker, and all the labelling and naming you can use for people who want to create content on social media platforms and earn income? Yes. I do want to do so at my own pace, own path and unique way.

Conclusion

Congratulations, my fellow social media enthusiasts! We've hit the jackpot with social media marketing! Whether it's your passion or your bread and butter, social media can be both a thrilling hobby and a lucrative career. So, if you're as excited as I am about this never-ending adventure, let's connect and swap some amazing stories! Let's laugh at our mistakes, cheer each other on, and share our knowledge. Don't be shy, come and say hi!
